Celebrating Girl Power in Limbe
This year, we celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child with an empowering program in Limbe! Our celebration brought together young girls for a transformative day focused on building confidence, health awareness, and digital literacy.
Self-Confidence & Goal-Setting
We hosted an incredible discussion session where our girls shared their aspirations and dreams for the future. Through interactive activities, they learned about the power of self-belief, setting achievable goals, and developing strategies to overcome obstacles. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was truly inspiring as each girl spoke about her unique vision for her future.
Menstrual Hygiene & Health Education
Our comprehensive health education sessions emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene management. Girls learned about using sanitary pads properly, understanding their menstrual cycle, and recognizing why good hygiene practices are essential for their health and dignity. We addressed common myths and created a safe space where girls could ask questions without stigma.
Personal Hygiene & Self-Care
Beyond menstrual health, we explored the broader aspects of personal hygiene. Our girls learned practical skills including proper dental care with toothpaste and toothbrushes, the importance of regular bathing with soap, and maintaining overall cleanliness. We emphasized that self-care is not just about health—it's about self-respect and confidence.
Digital Literacy & Social Media Awareness
In today's connected world, we explored the impact of social media on young girls' lives. Our discussion covered responsible social media use, identifying online risks, protecting personal information, and developing critical thinking skills to navigate digital spaces safely. We emphasized the importance of building a positive digital footprint while maintaining real-world connections.
Dignity Kits & Refreshments
The celebration concluded with the distribution of dignity kits containing essential menstrual and personal hygiene supplies. These kits ensure that our girls have access to the products they need to manage their health with dignity. We also provided snacks and refreshments, creating a joyful atmosphere where girls could relax, connect, and feel truly valued.
